FAQ

What do I need to bring?

There’s no need to bring any tools or equipment with you to Country Pines. (In fact, we can’t allow people to bring their own tools. Pesky insurance rules.) Just dress for the weather and we’ll provide the rest including saws, carts, tree shaking, netting, throwaway bags, and we’ll even tie the tree to the roof of the ol’ stationwagon, if needed!

How do I take care of my precut tree?

First and foremost, be sure to cut off  ¼” off the trunk. Make the cut perpendicular to the stem, not at an angle or a V-shape.

Use a stand with an adequate water-holding capacity and check the stand daily to make sure the water level does not go below the base of the tree.

Keep the tree away from sources of heat such as fireplaces, heaters, vents, and direct sunlight. Lowering the room temperature will slow the drying process and result in less water consumption each day.

If you leave a message, you WILL get a call back as soon as possible. If you do not leave a message, we assume you get the information you needed from the voicemail greeting.

It’s order time already! Where has the year gone!? It’s time to place those special orders for Christmas already! We will not be bringing in as many fir trees as we have the past few years, we had too many left over last year that ended up at the burning of the pines at Okoboji!If you want to make sure we have a Fir tree available for you, please go to our website at www.countrypinestreefarm.com and fill out a special order form! Unfortunately, due to the rising number of no shows and “we didn’t order that’s”, we have no choice but to implement a non refundable prepay for all special order products we order in this year too. We are having a live tree cut down at your request and we can’t send them back! So, you place the order, we send a link to prepay for approximately 1/2, we order the tree and have it ready for you when you arrive! We were so fortunate to receive a Choose Iowa grant from Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig’s office and IDALS for 2025-2026!The funds were used to construct a new building that is a space for Tanya and the design team to create their specialty products that are for sale in the sales barn. The new building is connected to the sales barn, so she can leave her decorations out and create some new items if we run low or need to modify something to make it perfect for someone! In the past, the design team would stay up until 2-3am the night before we open, creating a rush to get cleaned up, decor put away and sales items put out. We are almost never actually ready in the barn at 9:00am on opening day! We think this facility will change that for the better! There are just a few sheets of plywood left to get put up but the building is complete otherwise! We thank Secretary Naig and the Choose Iowa team for selecting us for this award. We have a beautiful preordered cemetery saddle on the “I didn’t order that” board game. These are gorgeous and meant to sit on top of a headstone at the cemetery. It has padded legs that bend around the headstone. The pads grip so it doesn’t fall off. It can also be placed at the base of the stone. They are incredibly time consuming to make each one, so it would be a travesty to throw it away!We can change easily remove the feathers and change the bow color if needed!
